The role focuses on local municipal and land development projects in Kingston and surrounding areas. Responsibilities include execution and review of storm, water, and wastewater design tasks; site servicing and feasibility studies; stormwater management and grading design; technical design and reporting; project management; business development; and responding to proposal requests. What you can expect to do here An engineer begins the week with a team huddle with engineers, graduates, technologists, and project managers. They dive into technical details, completing detailed design calculations, reports, and reviewing intricate drawings and technical specifications for municipal and land development projects. Collaboration with architects, contractors, and clients ensures compliance with zoning laws and regulations. The work blends office-based design with on-site application, contributing to sustainable development. Engineers support mentorship of young professionals and may take on additional duties as required. What you'll bring to WSP - Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent. - Master’s degree considered an asset. - Registered P.Eng. in Ontario. - 3‑8 years of experience in land development and municipal engineering. - Design knowledge of roads, highways, site servicing (storm, sanitary, water), grading, drainage, and stormwater management. - Experience with proposal responses. - Knowledge of Ontario land development approvals. - Sound understanding of engineering standards, principles, practices, and reference guidelines. - AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency and general design software knowledge. - Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications. - Knowledge of OPSS and OPSD. - Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. - Familiarity with other design and modelling tools an asset. - Project management experience an asset. - Interest in mentoring engineering graduates and technologists. - Comfortable working independently in office and field. - Valid Ontario driver’s license.
