About the Role Reporting to the Logistics and Supply Chain Manager, the Logistics Supervisor performs the day-to-day responsibilities of the Logistics Specialist role while providing supervisory oversight to the Purchasing and Planning functions. The role is primarily responsible for overseeing import/export logistics, transportation operations, customs compliance, shipping documentation, and carrier management to ensure stable and efficient supply chain operations. The Supervisor also oversees the Purchasing and Planning teams by monitoring workflows, supporting coordination between departments, reviewing priorities, and ensuring alignment with operational and production requirements. The role establishes and maintains SOPs/COPs related to logistics activities, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and works collaboratively with internal departments and external service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective operations. Job Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, customs or supply chain operations, including supervisory or team leadership experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: - Prior experience in consumer goods manufacturing, food or beverage industry preferred. - Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import/export compliance requirements, and tariff structures across North America, with the ability to support and navigate global trade regulations beyond North America. - Strong knowledge of transportation, customs and logistics processes. - Solid computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and ERP systems. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. - Effective leadership and team coordination skills. - Solid communication and relationship management abilities. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Knowledge of workplace safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements. Key Duties and Responsibilities - Perform day-to-day logistics operations including import/export coordination, transportation scheduling and shipment tracking. - Manage customs documentation, freight forwarding activities and transportation compliance requirements. - Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers and warehouse providers to ensure timely deliveries. - Review shipping documents and invoices to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. - Maintain HS code database and support customs/CIQ related documentation and applications. - Monitor transportation performance and conduct cost analysis to support efficient carrier selection and cost reduction initiatives. - Establish and maintain SOPs/COPs related to logistics activities and ensure documentation is current. - Support and oversee the Purchasing and Planning functions by monitoring workflow priorities and coordinating activities between departments. - Work closely with production, warehouse, purchasing, planning, finance and quality assurance teams to support operational requirements. - Assist with demand planning, inventory coordination and material availability as required. - Provide guidance, work direction and performance feedback to Purchasing and Planning team members. - Promote a positive working environment focused on teamwork, communication and continuous improvement. - Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies across logistics activities. - Prepare and maintain reports related to logistics, transportation and supply chain activities. - Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations, company policies and safety procedures. - Other duties as assigned. Working Conditions The standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Most of the work occurs during regular weekday office hours. However, as an international company with frequent interaction with head office, hours of work involved may vary to accommodate differences in time zones. Flexible hours are required and may include evening and week-end hours. This job operates in office and food manufacturing setting. Travel may be required within Canada.
