Description
The Principal Specialist & Network Lead serves as the organization’s highest-level network technical authority, responsible for the strategic design, governance, optimization, and operational leadership of the global enterprise network. This role combines deep Principal-level technical expertise with team leadership responsibilities. The incumbent acts as the ultimate technical escalation point while overseeing network engineering standards, documentation, resilience, and strategic alignment across IT Infrastructure & Operations. The position ensures the enterprise network is secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with evolving business objectives. Key Responsibilities 1. Network Architecture & Engineering Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of the global enterprise network, including: LAN, WAN, Data Center networking Wireless infrastructure VoIP, IP Telephony, and Call Center technologies Define and maintain secure network architecture in collaboration with Systems and Security Architecture teams. Ensure network platforms are robust, scalable, highly available, and compliant with industry standards and internal policies. Drive modernization initiatives and continuous infrastructure improvement. 2. Operational Excellence & Technical Escalation Serve as the Level 3 escalation point for complex incidents and high-impact network issues. Lead advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and preventive engineering efforts. Oversee network failover testing, disaster recovery (DR), business continuity (BCP), and resilience validation processes. Ensure operational stability through proactive monitoring and performance optimization. Mentor and guide Network Specialists in technical execution and career development. Plan, prioritize, and coordinate project assignments and workload distribution. Provide technical direction and quality oversight across network initiatives. Represent the Network function in cross-departmental and enterprise-level initiatives. Contribute to enterprise network strategy and multi-year technology roadmaps. Define, document, and enforce technical standards, operational procedures, and governance frameworks. Ensure alignment between infrastructure capabilities and business strategy. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to proactively evolve the network landscape. 5. Implementation & Documentation Deploy, upgrade, and maintain enterprise-grade routing, switching, wireless, and security solutions. Maintain comprehensive documentation including network topology, standards, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures. Provide knowledge transfer and training to Level 1 and Level 2 support teams and other technical stakeholders. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, including experience at a Senior or Principal level. Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and delivering complex enterprise network projects. Expert-level knowledge of: IP networking and enterprise routing/switching Wireless infrastructure (Wi‑Fi enterprise environments) Cloud networking architectures IP Telephony and unified communications Enterprise network security controls Hands‑on experience with major networking platforms such as: Extreme Networks Cisco Aruba Microsoft Teams Phone AudioCodes Strong understanding of enterprise security architecture and infrastructure integration. Advanced network certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent) are considered an asset.
