Job Details We are looking for an experienced and reliable Security Guard with a positive attitude to help protect community partners and participants at in a Supportive Housing setting. The ideal candidate has a background in security, strong communication skills, the ability to ensure the safety and security of staff/participants/clients at the facility, comfortable working with the vulnerable population, applying mental health and crisis response tactics and an interest in helping others. We're seeking an individual who thrives under pressure, is used to changing plans accordingly and can determine what a threat is and what isn't when given limited information. Responsibilities - Present a positive company image at all times - Perform detailed and diligent patrols - Apply de-escalation tactics - Assess disturbances - Removal/Preventing of tents or structures around the property - Work closely with Police Services - Observe and report daily activities and irregularities to appropriate personnel - Ensure that all safety and emergency procedures are followed - Maintain surveillance of the surrounding area and report suspicious activity - Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, in a polite, yet firm, manner - Provide assistance to clients and visitors when required - Must be familiar with emergency response policies and respond to emergency calls accordingly - Inspection of corridors and passageways to ensure they are kept secure and explicit of any obstructions - Parking facility inspection for unauthorized parking or solicitation, accidents, general illumination, safe walkways, entrances, etc. - Deal with potentially violent or disruptive behaviour in an orderly manner - Properly access and control entry points of a building - Apply security protocols and procedures in day-to-day activities Perform other position-related duties as required.
