Job Description: Marvelous Minds Early Learning Center - Lead Educator Website: Location: Kitchener, Ontario, Canada Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Educator to join our team at our early learning center startup. As a Lead Educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality early childhood education and care to children, ensuring their holistic development in accordance with the standards set by the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario. This position requires a strong understanding of child development principles, the ability to create a nurturing and stimulating environment, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Responsibilities: Curriculum Planning and Implementation: - Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario's standards and best practices. - Create engaging and inclusive learning experiences that promote children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. - Plan and organize daily activities and routines that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and creativity. - Observe and document children's progress, interests, and individual needs to inform curriculum planning and provide feedback to families. Child Guidance and Support: - Create a secure and supportive environment where children feel valued, respected, and encouraged to express themselves. - Implement positive guidance strategies to promote children's self-regulation and social-emotional development. - Foster positive relationships with children, providing individualized attention and support to meet their unique needs. - Collaborate with families and other professionals to develop and implement strategies for supporting children with diverse abilities and backgrounds. Documentation and Assessment: - Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children's attendance, daily observations, assessments, and developmental milestones. - Prepare progress reports and communicate children's achievements and areas of growth to parents/guardians on a regular basis. - Collaborate with colleagues to conduct ongoing assessments and evaluations to inform program planning and individualized support. Health, Safety, and Well-being: - Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of children by implementing health and safety policies and procedures. - Maintain a clean and organized learning environment, including proper sanitation and hygiene practices. - Conduct regular health checks and respond to children's health and safety needs promptly. - Administer medication and maintain accurate medication records, adhering to established protocols and regulations. Professional Development and Collaboration: - Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education. - Collaborate with colleagues and actively contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment. - Engage in reflective practice and actively seek feedback to support personal and professional growth. - Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in early childhood education. Qualifications: - Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution. - Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) certification from the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario. - A member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators. - Knowledge and understanding of child development theories, early learning frameworks, and best practices in early childhood education. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, families, and colleagues. - Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that respects and embraces diversity. - Experience in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and programs for young children. - First Aid and CPR certification (required before joining). - Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required before joining). - Immunization required by the Ministry. - Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, Ontario Regulation 137/15, Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007, College of Early Childhood Educators' Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and related regulations, guidelines and best practices. Note: This job description is a general overview and may be modified to suit the specific needs of Marvelous Minds Early Learning Center, being a startup. There may be additional responsibilities related to establishing and growing the center, contributing towards development of policies and procedures, innovations, input in the overall program etc. Flexibility and adaptability are key attributes in a startup environment, as they will play a crucial role in shaping the center's culture and achieving its long-term goals.
