Role Description This is a part-time or full time role for a Portfolio Manager (Advising Representative) and is not restricted to any location, but the applicant must reside within Canada. This is not a traditional 'corner office' PM role. We are a lean, tech-forward integrated firm. You will be as comfortable discussing asset allocation as you are navigating our digital back-end systems. We are looking for a tech-savvy Advising Representative (AR)/Discretionary Portfolio Manager who enjoys the intersection of portfolio management and operational excellence. As we operate an online advisor model, this role is perfect for a professional who prefers a streamlined, digital-first environment over traditional corporate structures. You will own the client relationship from the moment they click 'join,' through onboarding, trading, and annual reviews. The Portfolio Manager is part of the portfolio management team, servicing clients in an advisory capacity, onboarding clients, and conducting annual reviews. The candidate should also have some experience in executing trades in investment accounts. This role is not for you if you expect a dedicated administrative assistant to handle your paperwork. The ideal candidate will exhibit high standards, excellent communication skills, and have the ability to take initiative and prioritize daily tasks. A strong ability to take charge and meet tight deadlines will ensure your success in this role. Experience in financial planning or investment is a plus. The responsibilities include: - Manage the end-to-end digital onboarding journey, ensuring a frictionless experience from first click to funded account - Hold client onboarding and ongoing service meetings - Review documents in advance of meetings - Work with online systems to upload documents to custodians - Process trades in client accounts and fund custodian accounts - Service client accounts, including email inquiries and hold review meetings - Liaise with compliance and account services team members - Look for issues before they escalate and implement solutions - Maintain client relationships and get to know clients - Provide operational support, including ad hoc administrative support Qualifications - Currently registered as an AR, or can qualify as an AR - Great attention to detail - Passion for client service with a lot of patience - Some financial planning background and knowledge is a plus - Comfortable with technology and software - Enjoys helping others - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field is a plus but not a requirement - Must be already registered as an Advising Representative, or qualify for registration as an Advising Representative - Have a CFA or CIM designation in good standing - Experience in trading within diverse financial instruments and markets - Proficiency in financial analysis tools and portfolio management software Future Growth: - Working towards becoming Chief Compliance Officer Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2o7o0y
