Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU), Kitchener

Position Summary

The Registered Practical Nurse assists in the coordination of total nursing care for an assigned group of patients including telemetry patients. The RPN works closely with other nursing staff and patient team personnel, maintaining standards for professional nursing practice within the clinical setting, and contributes to ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.Prerequisite Health&Safety Documentation: New employees must provide documentation/proof of COVID-19 vaccination status, a 2-step TB test, and proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella prior to their start date. Before starting, employees must receive clearance from Employee Health, Safety and Wellness.Position Requirements

Current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario Acute Medicine experience preferred Demonstrates communication skills necessary to interact with interdisciplinary team, patients, significant others, and general public Ability to catheterize, monitor IV’s and use aseptic technique Demonstrates knowledge and skill in caring for medical patientsSkilled in BG testing, 12 lead EKG’s Must obtain basic cardiac arrhythmia course within 4 months of accepting the position Knowledgeable with oxygen equipment and set up Basic computer skills Valuable attendance record Employment Equity
