PM Contracting Ltd. is seeking a motivated and self-driven individual to lead and manage our Health & Safety Program. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate robust time management skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of health and safety practices within the construction industry. Why Join PM Contracting? - Small, team-oriented company environment - Consistent hours and steady year-round employment - Majority of projects are local to the Kitchener-Waterloo region - Opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving company-wide safety standards Responsibilities and Qualifications The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing administration, coordination, and improvement of PM Contracting’s Health & Safety Program, including: - Reviewing, evaluating, and updating company health and safety policies and training programs annually - Researching industry regulations and legislative changes to ensure company compliance - Coordinating and arranging all in-house and third-party training programs - Maintaining employee training records and certifications - Working closely with site and office staff to ensure projects operate safely and efficiently - Conducting inspections of active construction sites - Completing hazard assessments and coordinating related toolbox talks - Being present during high-risk work activities as required - Assisting the company in working toward and maintaining COR® (Certificate of Recognition) certification, including the development, implementation, auditing, and continuous improvement of required health and safety programs, policies, procedures, and documentation - Coordinating internal COR compliance requirements and supporting external audits and evaluations - Working with management and site staff to strengthen and promote a positive company-wide safety culture aligned with COR standards and industry best practice - Assisting with site setup, including signage, procedures, and safety documentation - Obtaining and maintaining Ministry of Labour Form 1000s for projects - Collecting and maintaining subcontractor Health & Safety policies - Tracking and maintaining site orientation forms from subcontractors and trades - Coordinating monthly Health & Safety Steering Committee meetings with management - Organizing monthly employee meetings and safety training sessions - Attending project site meetings where applicable - Conducting jobsite orientations with major trades - Performing shop inspections and follow-ups on jobsite inspection reports - Setting and monitoring annual program targets and maintaining safety statistics, including: - Attendance records - Minor accidents and incident tracking - Compliance with Jobsite Inspection Sheets (JSIs) - Preparing site-specific safety policies and procedures for clients when required - Completing permit applications for road work and sidewalk closures - Researching upcoming Ministry of Labour safety blitzes and ensuring site personnel are prepared - Maintaining SDS/MSDS documentation and records - Advising on and inspecting infection control measures on applicable projects (additional training can be provided) Preferred Qualifications - Experience in commercial or institutional construction is considered an asset - Strong organizational and communication skills - Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities - Knowledge of Ontario construction health and safety regulations and compliance requirements - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital record keeping systems preferred Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year Benefits: - Casual dress - Company car - Dental care - Disability insurance - Employee assistance program - Extended health care - Flexible schedule - Life insurance Flexible language requirement: - French not required Ability to commute/relocate: - Kitchener, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred) Application question(s): - How you manager a COR program for a construction company before?
