Performance Manager, Customer Training (Canada) (Kitchener)

Position Overview The Manager, Customer Safety Trainer is primarily responsible for recruiting, coaching and supervising field safety trainers to ensure optimal productivity, and for growing safety training revenue and operating margins for their assigned coverage areas in line with the Strategic Plan. Responsibilities - Management Responsibilities: - Coach Safety Trainers to optimize productivity and maximize class sizes, obtaining lists, and scheduling classes to minimize downtime and achieve or exceed monthly revenue targets, using reports, analytics, and observations to identify opportunities. - Ensure trainers comply with SOPs, policies and procedures (e.g., invoicing customers, storing student documents). - Monitor trainer training schedules in the LMS to maintain a minimum 3‑month rolling schedule of sessions; audit paperwork for accuracy and proper storage. - Determine and monitor new markets that may need a full‑time trainer based on customer demand and future job starts. - Lead trainer recruitment and onboarding, ensuring qualified candidates are hired and coached to optimize effectiveness. - Work with branch managers to recruit and mentor branch trainers and Customer Evaluators; engage non‑participating CEs in the program. - When certified, conduct equipment operator certification and general safety training; maintain current related certifications. - Provide oversight to ensure all training activities comply with CSA standards and applicable provincial occupational health and safety statutes. - Act as a subject‑matter resource for provincial regulatory interpretation, supporting trainers, sales teams and customers. - Financial Responsibilities: - Support the development of the annual budget for the assigned coverage area. - Monitor budget achievement, determine causes of negative variations and take corrective actions. - Seek opportunities to grow the business profitably, including local industry group partnerships, trainer coverage expansion, upselling/cross‑selling and others. - Sales Responsibilities: - Work with National and Strategic Account teams to sell training to large customers and include training in National Account agreements. - Attend sales team meetings to promote the training product and discuss new products and updates. - Train sales teams on how to sell safety training. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. - Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. - Understanding of a Profit and Loss Statement and its levers. - Broad knowledge of construction industry safety standards, practices and regulations. - Dependable, organized, motivated, and self‑starter. - Customer‑service and solutions oriented. - Ability and willingness to travel; overnight travel may be required (20%-40%). - Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Compensation $100,694.00 – $151,042.00 annually. Physical Demands Must be able to bend, squat, crouch, reach, and lift twenty‑five pounds or more. Some duties may require driving for long periods, loading/unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather (rain, wind, high temperatures, night and weekend work).
