Our facilities operate on a 24/7 basis, and we pride ourselves in being more than shelter. We also offer a robust region-wide outreach support program which supports families who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence. Position OverviewThe Development and Events Coordinator is responsible for providing confidential administrative support to the Development Manager and the Community Engagement Manager. This includes participating in fundraising and community engagement activities such as donor stewardship, research and grant writing, fundraising campaigns, and supporting the organization’s signature events. This is a non-unionized position of confidence and trust, reporting directly to the Development Manager. Key Responsibilities• Coordinate and track fundraising third- party events and initiatives by forming new and maintaining existing relationships for growth in both number of fundraisers and donations• Coordinate monthly donors’ portfolio by tracking number of donors, updating profiles and tracking donations accordingly• Complete minor grants for review and research major grants for eligibility, requirements, giving levels and make recommendations for solicitation• Update and maintain donor database for currency and accuracy• Conduct research on potential and lapsed donors gaining information that can be used in development strategy• Consistently communicate with donors through thank you calls, email and other correspondents• Arrange mid-level cheque presentations and document through photography• Provide logistics support for annual events and community engagement initiatives• Assist in communication and branding activities as needed• Assist in generating reports as required in support of grant stewardship and campaign tracking• Support internal signature events – creating timelines, assigning roles, and creating comprehensive critical paths• Help with public education presentations and community education booths• Participate actively and constructively as a team member within the agency as a whole; attend all staff meetings; participate in planning, development and evaluation• Perform other duties as assigned by the Development Manager or designate• Assist with event management including solicitation, coordination, guest lists, and registration Skills and QualificationsSkills:• Must have advanced knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and Power Point • Demonstrated computer proficiency and ability to learn new programs in a timely manner• Knowledge of SharePoint and DonorPerfect is an asset• Solid and effective interpersonal and communication skills (including oral, written and visual)• High level of professionalism and ability to manage smooth event logistics under pressure• Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and meet deadlines • Superior accuracy and attention to detail is imperative• Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to be decisive • Demonstrated independent thinking, initiative and creativity• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally with staff, management, volunteers, suppliers, community partners and external stakeholders• Ability to function successfully both independently and within a team Qualifications:• A minimum of three years' experience in a communications, fundraising position or events management position, preferably in a not-for-profit setting• Applicable education and/or experience within communications• Past grant writing experience and event planning• Sound knowledge of finance practices such as bank deposits, general ledger, balance reporting• Proficiency in the use of a computer; advanced knowledge and use of databases, internet and e-mail fundamentals, and a working knowledge of software programs, including Excel, Microsoft Word and Power Point.• Valid driver’s license, valid insurance and reliable vehicle.
