Plant Process Engineer - Plastic Injection Molding As a Plant Process Engineer reporting to the Production Manager, you will monitor and optimize molding processes at the MAHLE Tilbury facility. You will be responsible for problem solving, continuous improvement of current and new product lines, and supervising Process Technicians. Responsibilities Develop predictive methods to eliminate downtime and throughput yield constraints; drive future cycle time improvements. Coordinate and troubleshoot manufacturing processes of plastic injection molding using polypropylene and nylon resins. Supervise technicians and plan Process Technicians’ activities across shifts. Develop the injection molding process for new tooling, including machine parameters and peripheral equipment such as chillers and dryers. Troubleshoot manufacturing processing problems for quality issues including dimensional issues, flash, short shots, burn areas, flow marks, bubbles, etc. Make improvements to molding process to reduce cycle times without sacrificing part quality. Improve mold change‑over time and eliminate waste during internal and external change‑over elements. Resolve mold tooling issues with Tooling Engineers and Mold Maintenance. Determine scheduling and troubleshooting requirements with Production Supervisor and Master Scheduler. Identify training needs for Process Technicians to improve OEE, FTT, PE, and 5S on injection molding machines. Provide process directions to injection molding Process Technicians. Sample new tooling (tooling trials). Liaise with Tooling Engineers and product development teams. Take customer product specifications and determine appropriate process parameters and controls. Revise parameters, track and document them in a database. Handle manufacturing efficiency issues and conduct problem solving with corrective action. Develop technical training plans for all Process Technicians; responsible for on‑the‑job (OTJ) training. Pareto ranking (machine downtime, scrap, mold change, set‑up times). Cost analysis and justifications for capital investments (PARs). Develop, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance system. Qualifications Technology, Business, or related diploma from a community college. 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience. Preferred supervisory experience in a unionized setting. Technical experience in molding, assembly, equipment troubleshooting and repair. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. SAP experience considered an asset.
