Description
The Program At Taproot Community Support Services, we’re a 100 percent employee‑owned organization through an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). Every employee is an owner from their first day, with a voice in shaping Taproot’s future and the opportunity to share in employee ownership dividends.
As a Certified B Corporation, we harness business for good. Since 1983, we’ve grown steadily, now delivering support across Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario through more than 90 contracts. Our 800+ employee-owners live by five shared values: we are stronger together, we lead with optimism, we embrace challenges, we respect every voice, and we go above and beyond.
The Transitional Outreach Program offers transitional supported living services for at‑risk youth (aged 17 and 18 with impaired intellectual functioning, FASD, or autism affecting adaptive functioning) who are currently under the supervision of MCFD and eligible for CLBC services at age 19. Youth may be disconnected from positive family/community supports and require intensive, specialised support to work through challenges such as substance misuse, homelessness, alienation from school, violence, physical and mental health, isolation, sexual exploitation, criminal activity and/or gang involvement.
Following a Housing First model, the first priority is securing safe, permanent, affordable housing as quickly as possible. Workers then assist youth in locating, accessing and using easily‑accessible and user‑friendly community‑based supports with minimal barriers to maintain their housing and avoid homelessness.
The Position The Program Supervisor (PS) is responsible for ensuring program operations, including the service of persons‑served, comply with CARF‑accreditation, funder‑based contacts, Taproot policies and procedures, and applicable standards and legislation. The PS also works directly with persons served and their families/care teams, and liaises with funders, community partners and other agencies.
