Pay: $27-28 per hour
Shift Premium: $3.00 2nd Shift Differential, $4.00 3rd Shift Differential
Shift: 2pm to 10:30pm Monday– Thursday; 1pm to 9:30pm Friday
Position Summary STARTING YOUR CAREER AS A TRUCK TECHNICIAN? This is a great entry‑level position to start your career as a diesel truck mechanic, learn from experts, and advance. The Diesel Technician III works as a mechanic’s helper/apprentice, performing minor repairs and assisting with major component removal, replacement, and repair under the direction of a lead technician or supervisor.

Major Responsibilities
Remove, replace, or adjust brakes (air and hydraulic), fifth wheel, minor electrical repairs, cab components, and trailer maintenance such as doors and wheel seals under supervision.
Perform all aspects of preventive maintenance on vehicles as trained.
Assist with mechanical repairs and replacements directed by Technician I, II, Lead Technician, or Supervisor as part of training.
Perform customer service duties as required.
Pick up and deliver vehicles.
Maintain work area appearance and safety.
Use hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges) and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, hoists).
Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
Other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
1‑2 years practical experience with vehicle or truck repair preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational/technical or certification preferred.
Mandatory enrollment in an apprentice program.
Maintain membership/registration with relevant governmental agencies.
Working knowledge of hand tools required.
Valid driver’s license class G or 5; ability to obtain class DZ within 6 months of hire.
Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems.
Ability to work in non–climate controlled conditions required.
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.
Willingness to travel within the district for customer yards, training sites, or required schedule.
Physical Requirements
The role requires regularly lifting or moving up to 12 kg, frequently up to 23 kg, and occasionally up to 45 kg.
Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, hand use, and arm reach are frequent duties.
