Job Description We are seeking a Senior Government Contracts Professional to join our team in Ottawa, Canada. In this pivotal role, you will manage complex government contracts, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive successful negotiations with federal, provincial, and municipal agencies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, analytical acumen, and the ability to navigate the intricacies of government procurement while maintaining the highest professional standards.
Provide strategic oversight and governance for contract administration, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with organizational objectives.
Serve as the primary point of accountability for all contractual communications and commitments, fostering strong executive-level customer relationships.
Establish and enforce rigorous documentation standards and control processes to maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Lead comprehensive compliance audits and risk assessments to ensure adherence to contract clauses, company policies, and applicable federal regulations.
Act as a senior advisor and influential member of proposal and program teams, driving the interpretation and execution of complex contract requirements.
Partner closely with Program Management and cross-functional leadership to develop and implement strategies that enhance overall contract performance, including leading efforts in RFP preparation and response.
Lead negotiation strategies for contracts, including terms, conditions, pricing, delivery, and performance metrics, collaborating with executive leadership to achieve business objectives and mitigate risks.
Conduct detailed reviews of contract documents for legal, financial, and operational risk, ensuring alignment with organizational goals before final acceptance or signature.
Champion interdisciplinary collaboration to guarantee comprehensive understanding and flawless execution of contract requirements across all stakeholders.
Provide authoritative guidance on contract compliance, audit responses, and dispute resolution to internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee the contract change management process, proactively identifying and mitigating performance risks in partnership with Program Management, Engineering, Finance, and other key functions.
Act as a trusted consultant to business units, delivering insights on contract developments, industry trends, and regulatory changes impacting assigned contracts.
Continuously monitor contract scope and performance, initiating strategic actions to address scope changes and optimize outcomes.
Cultivate and sustain high-level customer relationships by anticipating client needs, resolving issues efficiently, and promoting long‑term partnership value.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary degree with preference for degree in Business, Commerce, Law or other related field plus a minimum 7+ years of experience in government contracting, procurement, or related contract management roles
Demonstrated expertise in federal, provincial, or municipal government procurement processes and regulations
Proven ability to foster strong interpersonal relationships and drive collaborative success within cross‑functional teams.
Advanced analytical and research expertise, with a demonstrated capacity to synthesize complex data and produce comprehensive, actionable reports.
Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all deliverables.
Exceptional communication skills, adept at delivering clear, concise, and professional messages to diverse stakeholders.
Well‑developed business acumen with a strategic understanding of how insights and recommendations influence client outcomes and support critical business decisions.
Open to mentoring and coaching junior staff by providing guidance, knowledge sharing, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Experience using AI in day to day work, curious personality with continuous improvement mindset
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems‑Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
Additional Information The hiring range for this position is $90,000-$115,000; the goal is to provide a fair and competitive offer based on an assessment of internal equity and your qualifications, including:
