This position plays a key role in maintaining the hotel’s appearance, equipment, building systems, and guest rooms while supporting exceptional guest service and ensuring compliance with safety and brand standards.
Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts may be required.
Key Responsibilities General Maintenance&Repairs
Perform day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks throughout the hotel property.
Complete preventative maintenance programs and scheduled inspections for guest rooms, public areas, and hotel equipment.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance related to:
Plumbing
Electrical systems
HVAC and air handling units
Refrigeration systems
Kitchen equipment
Drywall, painting, grouting, and carpentry
Furniture, fixtures, doors, windows, and cabinetry
Troubleshoot equipment and system issues to minimize downtime and ensure guest satisfaction.
Ensure all maintenance work is completed efficiently, safely, and according to brand and company standards.
Property&Facility Upkeep
Maintain hotel grounds, parking areas, exterior spaces, and common areas in clean and safe condition.
Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, entrances, and surrounding hotel areas as required.
Assist with upgrades, and special projects when needed.
Perform janitorial and general upkeep duties to maintain the overall appearance of the property.
Safety&Compliance
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns.
Report suspicious activity, hazards, or major maintenance issues to the Maintenance Manager or General Manager immediately.
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health&Safety standards, hotel policies, and fire safety procedures.
Conduct routine fire safety inspections, fire extinguisher checks, and complete required safety reports.
Participate in fire alarm procedures, emergency preparedness, and monthly fire drills.
Maintain knowledge of emergency shut‑off procedures for water, gas, and electrical systems.
Guest&Team Support
Respond to guest maintenance requests and service calls in a professional and timely manner.
Support hotel operations by assisting with guest requests, room inspections, luggage assistance, and other operational needs when required.
Communicate effectively with management and team members regarding maintenance priorities, deficiencies, and repairs.
Assist in training new team members on maintenance procedures and safety practices.
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate daily logs and reports of completed work and maintenance activities.
Monitor equipment condition and identify opportunities for preventative maintenance and operational improvements.
Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in an organized and secure manner.
Qualifications&Skills
Previous hotel maintenance or building maintenance experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge of general maintenance practices including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and grounds maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues independently.
Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact professionally with guests, team members, and management.
Certifications or technical training in maintenance‑related fields are considered an asset.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Physical Requirements&Working Conditions
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, lift, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects when required.
Exposure to cleaning products, chemicals, tools, machinery, and outdoor weather conditions.
Ability to work safely in environments involving ladders, mechanical equipment, and hazardous materials.
Reporting Structure This position reports directly to the General Manager and works under general supervision while independently prioritizing and completing assigned tasks.
