Senior Analyst, Finance (English Services) (Telework/Hybrid) Permanent, full time– hybrid work arrangement.

Location: 181 Queen Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1P 1K9.

This role supports the News Division’s Finance Team, working with operational leaders and reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance. The Senior Analyst is responsible for managing financial aspects of news programming, including cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Planning, budgeting, analysis, forecasting, and business reporting.

Coordinating, tracking, controlling, authorizing and reconciling expenditures.

Preparing detailed analysis of business operations, including budget variances, recommending and implementing courses of action to maintain budget integrity.

Developing and managing annual budgets in collaboration with management.

Preparing ad-hoc and monthly financial reports for review and discussion with Senior Management.

Participating in cross-functional departmental process improvement projects and financial systems implementations.

Interpreting and applying labour agreements, CBC policies, and business practices.

Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Professional accounting designation such as CPA.

Minimum 3 years of production finance and/or accounting experience.

Ability to work with all levels of management and staff, including senior executives.

Proven success in analyzing business operations.

Self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Superior investigative and analytical skills with the ability to identify and implement strategies for improvement.

Ability to set priorities and balance competing business needs within budgetary restrictions and reporting deadlines.

Business partnering approach; open and direct communication style, good listening skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Superior Excel skills and experience with Cognos and Workday is an asset.

Fluency in French is an asset.
