Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Laval)

Job Summary Sukhman Singh Transport Inc. is a family-owned and operated trucking company that has been running since 1996. We operate a small but active fleet of 5 trucks and 7 trailers out of our terminal in Laval, QC. We are looking for a reliable and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team on a permanent, part-time, or on-call basis — whatever arrangement works best for the right candidate. Our priority is having a trusted mechanic who knows our equipment, keeps our fleet road-ready, and is available when we need them. Even during slower periods, we are committed to compensating our mechanic for their availability and loyalty. We are a company with real growth plans — as we expand our fleet, the right mechanic will grow with us and become an essential part of what we are building. Responsibilities - Perform regular inspections on all trucks and trailers to ensure roadworthiness and compliance - Complete mandatory CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) inspections every 3 months as required by Quebec regulations - Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and brake system issues on heavy-duty trucks and trailers - Conduct pre-scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and downtime - Be available on-call for urgent mechanical issues as they arise - Maintain accurate service and inspection records for all vehicles - Communicate clearly with management regarding repairs needed, parts required, and vehicle status Requirements - Experience working on heavy-duty diesel trucks and trailers - Familiar with Quebec CVIP inspection requirements and procedures — ability to perform or coordinate inspections is a solid asset - Solid understanding of diesel engines, brakes, electrical systems, and general truck mechanics - Comfortable working independently and managing their own schedule - Reliable, trustworthy, and able to respond promptly when called upon - Relevant mechanic certification or licence is an asset but hands-on experience will be considered What We Offer - Flexible arrangement — permanent, part-time, or on-call, we are open to discussing what works - Guaranteed compensation even during periods of low activity at the yard - A real opportunity to grow with the company — we are actively planning to expand our fleet and want a mechanic who wants to be part of that journey long-term - A family-run environment where your work is genuinely appreciated and you are treated with respect Terminal: 5281 Boul Cleroux, Laval, QC Pay: $24.50-$49.94 per hour Benefits - Flexible schedule - On-site parking Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2pisfc
