The Speech-Language Pathologist, under the direction of the Manager of Rehabilitation or Clinical Manager‑Branch level, is responsible for completion of professional activities that include assessment, treatment, education, and management of clients requiring Speech and Language Pathology intervention, in accordance with professional standards. Clinical Responsibilities
Responsible for the assessment of clients, establishment and ongoing evaluation and revision of treatment programs, including goals and discharge plans. Maintains current accurate clinical records according to standards set by the College of Audiologists and Speech-language Pathologists of Ontario. Documents assessment results, goals, treatment, client progress and discharge plans. Collaborates with other members of the health care team as needed. Communicates pertinent information and recommendations to clients, care providers and referral source and provides education regarding treatment strategies as needed. Observes the performance of those assisting in the speech and language program and provides guidance as necessary. Other Responsibilities
Maintain active standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-language Pathologists of Ontario. Participate in ongoing internal and/or external education activities. Adhere to Bayshore Therapy & Rehab Policies and Procedures. Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the companys Quality Management System. Participate in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties; notify immediate supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns. Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discuss it only with appropriate Bayshore personnel. Complete other tasks as requested. Education
Masters Degree or recognized equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology. Registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-language Pathologists of Ontario. Qualifications
Preference for three years providing Speech-Language Pathology services. Experience completing in-home assessments and treatments; knowledge of auto insurance and legal system is an asset, particularly in medical/legal report writing. Skills and Abilities
Enjoy working with clients of all ages in multiple treatment environments. Robust communication (oral and written) and exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills. Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective and consistent manner. Ability to work independently and to effectively collaborate with a team. Demonstrate basic knowledge of personal computers and proficiency with secure email. Commitment to continued learning. Valid drivers license. Standards of Performance
The Speech-Language Pathologist must demonstrate ongoing competency in completing all duties and responsibilities of this job description, in response to changes by the regulating body and as agreed upon specific goals and objectives. Performance Review
Performance will be reviewed on an ongoing basis with a formal review at the end of the three month probationary period and subsequently, on at least an annual basis. Input will be sought from employees and consultants at the branch and National Service Centre as applicable. Reporting Relationships
The Speech-Language Pathologist has an independent consulting relationship with the assigned location and reports to the Manager of Rehabilitation or Clinical Manager‑Branch level, as appropriate.
