General Labourer We are looking for dynamic individuals with exceptional customer service and technical skills. The General Labourer will work closely with their team members to complete labour and construction projects in a safe and timely manner. The incumbent is accountable for the safe operation of tools and equipment and will be responsible to complete labour type functions on a construction project.
Duties Include
Be a Brand ambassador– enable, engage, encourage, and exemplify the behaviours and attitudes of Lead, Innovate and Commit to Excellence
Innovate– engage colleagues and find new ways to work and win
Handle and distribute construction materials, loading and unloading vehicles with supplies, equipment, and remove all debris from work sites
Excavate, backfill, install pipe, and compact earth using shovels, rakes, and other tools
Required to safely operate small power tools (e.g., Tamper, cut saws, air compressors and generators)
Responsible for effectively using hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, pliers, side cutters, etc.)
Effectively communicate with team members and Management on preparation and project coordination
Proficient in filling out documentation (daily work orders and tailboards)
Proactively report any project delays or issues to Supervisor
Complete a daily safety inspection of all equipment and tools
Observe equipment maintenance schedule and advise Supervisor when repairs required
Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including, but not limited to, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Teraflex’s Policies and Procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor
Required Skills, Qualifications And Experience
Grade 12 high school or equivalent
Minimum 1-2 years’ underground construction experience in the related industry
Book 7 understanding or certificate is considered an asset
Experience interpreting plans, diagrams, and locates is considered an asset
Experience with conduit and pipe laying is considered an asset
Valid Class‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence and an excellent driving record
Criminal background check is required
Physical Demands Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position’s work tasks.
These Include But Not Limited To
Working outdoors and in confined spaces
Moving equipment and/or materials
Frequent climbing and frequent lifting
Must be able to safely lift loads of 50 lbs.
Standing for extended periods of time
Working in all weather conditions (cold, heat, rain, snow, wind etc.)

Demonstrates quality work that is well planned and completed accurately
Ability to adapt to changing volumes and pace of work
Strong time management and organization skills to ensure that deadlines are met, and work is delivered
