As a Reporter Trainee, working 15 hours per week you’ll gather meaningful content, sharpen your storytelling skills, and contribute to impactful News&Current Affairs coverage including a special investigative project focused on opioid addiction and recovery all while upholding the highest journalistic standards. Be part of the team of one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers; Research, develop, and pitch story ideas while assessing newsworthiness for target audiences; Gather and write content, including researching background, interviewing sources, and preparing story outlines; Assist in producing full story packages for multi‑platform use, including visuals and supporting elements;Monitor national and local news to stay current on emerging issues and relevant events; Develop and maintain sources and contacts to support ongoing news gathering. Qualifications
Grade 12 education / GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Knowledge of Internet, software, E‑mail and television broadcast technology is required; Demonstrated experience using a variety of different methods for research; Demonstrated confidence and ability to initiate calls, interviews, contacts, etc.;Ability to articulate and effectively communicate issues relevant to Indigenous communities; Benefits
