About the Role The Senior Accountant plays a key role in financial reporting, internal controls, system administration, and leadership within Phoenix’s finance team. This role works closely with senior leadership to enhance financial governance, drive process improvement, and maintain the accuracy and integrity of our financial systems. This position is ideal for someone with strong accounting experience, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Analysis - Lead weekly, monthly, and annual financial close processes - Prepare and present financial statements and management reporting - Complete account reconciliations and maintain required working papers - Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning - Maintain capital asset tracking and related entries Systems, Controls & Process Improvement - Champion data accuracy and financial integrity across all accounting systems - Administer and support JDE financial systems - Troubleshoot system issues and support system changes and upgrades - Assist in developing and enforcing strong financial reporting policies and controls Compliance & External Partnerships - Prepare and file GST, installments, WCB, surveys, and other remittances - Coordinate financial audits - Collaborate with external auditors, tax professionals, and service providers - Stay current on GAAP, IFRS, ITA, GST, and regulatory standards Team Leadership & Collaboration - Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Project Accounting teams - Assist with onboarding, training, and mentorship of finance staff - Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement - Model the Phoenix values through professional conduct and leadership Qualifications - CPA designation OR a recognized accounting degree - 2–5 years of relevant experience (Corporate Senior Accountant, or similar role) - Available immediately - JDE experience is required - Strong foundation in accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls - Experience with project reporting is an asset - Proven ability to develop and improve financial policies and procedures - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Ability to work closely and collaboratively with senior leadership - Strong ethical judgment and commitment to confidentiality - Must be legally eligible to work in Canada Why Join Phoenix Industrial?
