Produce Manager (Devon)

Overview We are seeking an experienced and agile Produce Manager to oversee the daily operations of our produce department. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of retail management, and excellent communication abilities. This role involves managing staff, ensuring product quality, maintaining merchandising standards, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Produce Manager will play a key role in driving sales, optimizing store performance, and fostering a positive shopping environment. Duties - Lead and supervise the produce department team, including training, and developing staff to ensure high performance and excellent customer service. - Manage ordering and stock replenishment to maximize sales and minimize waste. - Oversee merchandising efforts to create appealing displays that attract customers and promote featured products. - Handle store operations such as cash handling, cashiering, POS transactions, and bookkeeping tasks with accuracy and integrity. - Implement marketing initiatives to increase produce department visibility and sales. - Monitor product quality standards, freshness, and safety compliance across all produce items. - Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, provide training & development opportunities, and address operational issues. - Manage departmental budgeting and ensure adherence to financial targets - Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety regulations and store policies at all times. Experience - Proven supervisory or managerial experience in retail grocery or food service environments. - Strong background in merchandising, sales management, and retail operations. - Demonstrated skills in negotiation, purchasing, budgeting, and team management. - Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for effective communication with diverse customer bases and staff. - Experience with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and administrative tasks such as bookkeeping is preferred. - Excellent communication skills coupled with organizational skills for effective team leadership and customer engagement. - Prior experience in retail sales, marketing strategies, training & development programs, and store management is highly desirable.
