Description
Position Summary The Assembly Line Technician is responsible for the precise assembly of components and subassemblies used in the manufacturing of downhole tools. This role ensures full compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and strict material traceability requirements throughout the production lifecycle. Working closely with Shipping/Receiving, Materials, and Quality teams, the technician plays a critical role in maintaining end-to-end part and serial number traceability, ensuring all components are correctly identified, recorded, and assembled in accordance with company and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Assembly & Manufacturing Execution - Assemble downhole tool components and subassemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions - Interpret technical drawings, torque specifications, and assembly procedures with a high degree of accuracy - Use calibrated hand tools, torque wrenches, and specialized assembly equipment - Ensure correct part orientation, fit, and function during all stages of assembly - Perform pressure, fit, or function checks as required by the build process Material Control & Traceability - Verify all materials and components against pick lists, job travelers, and work orders prior to assembly - Maintain full traceability of parts, including heat numbers, serial numbers, and batch/lot tracking - Accurately record material consumption and assembly progress in ERP or tracking systems - Ensure all documentation is complete and aligned with quality and traceability requirements before moving product to the next stage - Coordinate closely with Shipping/Receiving to resolve discrepancies in incoming materials Quality Assurance & Compliance - Inspect components and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications, tolerances, and quality standards - Identify and report non-conformances, damaged materials, or documentation gaps - Support quality investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions - Ensure all required inspection points, signoffs, and documentation are completed accurately Collaboration with Supply Chain & Logistics - Work closely with Shipper/Receiver and Materials teams to ensure correct staging and flow of materials - Support productive movement of work-in-progress (WIP) between assembly stages - Assist in cycle counts and inventory verification activities as required - Communicate material shortages, delays, or inconsistencies impacting production schedules Safety & Operational Excellence - Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures - Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready workspace - Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times - Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and quality enhancement Qualifications & Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent required - 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment (oil & gas or downhole tools preferred) - Experience working with serialized components and traceability requirements is an asset - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions - Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) - Familiarity with torque specifications and controlled assembly processes - Experience with ERP or manufacturing tracking systems (material transactions, work orders) is considered an asset - Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and traceability - Ability to follow structured processes and documentation requirements - Strong communication and teamwork skills across operations and supply chain functions - Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, as required Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Assembly accuracy and first-pass yield - Compliance with traceability and documentation requirements - Productivity and adherence to production schedules - Number of quality incidents or rework events - Safety compliance and incident-free performance Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour Benefits: - On-site parking Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2p042a
