What you will do As a Manufacturing Designer, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of tooling used on the production floor to ensure efficient and effective manufacturing processes. You will create detailed drawings and specifications that guide the production team in building high-quality products. Collaborating closely with engineers and production staff, you'll contribute to optimizing processes for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. Your expertise will help streamline operations and enhance overall product quality.

How will you do it

Develop and create detailed designs for manufacturing tools and fixtures, ensuring compliance with production requirements and industry standards.

Generate precise and comprehensive technical drawings and specifications for tooling using Inventor/Creo software.

Collaborate closely with engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders to identify design needs and gather feedback on functionality.

Contribute to the prototyping process by working alongside manufacturing teams to test and refine tools prior to full-scale production.

Evaluate existing tool designs for efficiency and effectiveness, proposing improvements to boost productivity and lower costs.

Keep thorough documentation of design processes, revisions, and specifications to ensure traceability and adherence to JCI standards.

Create or update bills of materials (BOM) to accurately represent the necessary components and materials.

Assist in designing line layouts to enhance workflow and increase manufacturing efficiency.

Engage in continuous improvement efforts by assessing tooling performance and recommending innovative design enhancements.

Oversee multiple design projects concurrently, meeting timeline requirements while maintaining high-quality deliverables.

What we look for

College diploma or University degree in mechanical engineering design and drafting technology, or a related field.

5 years of Inventor experience including standardized drafting practices

5 years of experience supporting mechanical products and assemblies in a fast-paced environment

Ability to develop accurate manufacturing specs in a timely manner.

Ability to create preliminary designs or conceptualization of design.

Ability to create freehand sketches / perspectives essential.

Excellent planning and organizational skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Interest in developing technical skills through both internal and external training.

Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques

High level of personal integrity

Strong work ethic

Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
