Position Information Job Title Academic Advisor Appointment Type Full-time Temporary Position Dates July 2, 2026 to June 30, 2027 Hours per week/FTE 35 About the Position Are you an energetic, positive, responsible individual looking to help others achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams? Are you passionate about learning and post-secondary education? If so, you want to apply for this position with the Lethbridge Polytechnic Academic Advising team! As an Academic Advisor you will work with prospective and current students in a holistic and proactive way as they progress through their educational journey. You will provide information and guidance regarding program options, academic planning, supports for students, and institutional policies and practices, including: admissions, graduation, transfers and program outcomes. This role requires a high degree of responsibility, initiative, flexibility, and problem solving. Academic Advisors research, analyze, develop, and deliver services through a variety of channels. Essential skills for this position include: problem solving, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, rapport building, time management, and a high degree of accuracy with a large amount of information. Position Details - One on one appointments with prospective, current, and continuing students (face to face and over the phone) - Maintain accurate and confidential records - Support on and off campus events - Present information to various groups in a variety of settings - Collaborate with program areas and service areas for problem solving - Other duties as required Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree is required - Strong computer competency - Strong organizational and record keeping skills - Creative and critical thinking skills when working with students - Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and thoroughness in performing tasks - Maintenance of a positive attitude and drive to work towards positive outcomes within the workplace - Well-developed listening, probing, and analytical skills Preferred Qualifications - Customer service experience - Presentation skills - Experience in a post-secondary setting is preferred Salary AUPE Class Level 11 Step 2 $35.61 per hour Working Here A Culture of Care at Lethbridge Polytechnic embraces a workplace that both protects and empowers employees by creating an environment that promotes psychological, cultural and physical safety.
