Sit-down Forklift Operator (Lethbridge)

Job Title: Sit-Down Forklift Operator Job Description This role focuses on safely operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift in a high-volume LTL freight cross-dock environment. You will spend most of your shift loading and unloading trailers, moving pallets, and handling freight documentation while working closely with a small, collaborative team. The position combines forklift operation with manual material handling and general dock duties to keep freight flowing efficiently and the workspace safe and organized. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently throughout the shift. Load and unload LTL freight trailers using a sit-down counterbalance forklift for approximately 60% of the day. Move pallets and freight to designated areas within the cross-dock facility. Perform manual material handling (hand bombing) of freight up to 50 lbs for approximately 40% of the day, with frequency varying based on daily shipments. Handle bills of lading and related paperwork accurately during the shift. Assist team members with unloading paperwork and ensure documentation is completed correctly. Support general dock operations, including swamping, organizing freight, and helping with other tasks as needed. Help maintain a clean and safe yard and dock area, including regular sweeping and debris removal. Participate in cleaning duties each shift to keep the dock clear and safe for all team members. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and switch between forklift operation, paperwork, and manual tasks as required. Work collaboratively with a team of approximately 710 people in a fast-paced, space-constrained cross-dock environment. Follow all safety procedures and best practices for forklift operation, freight handling, and dock work. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift. At least 1 year of experience loading and unloading trailers using a forklift. Proven experience in transportation, warehouse, distribution, 3PL, or LTL freight environments. Demonstrated ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced cross-dock setting and switch tasks with ease. Strong attention to safety when operating forklifts and handling freight. Ability to read, understand, and accurately process bills of lading and related shipping documents. Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning shifts from Monday to Friday (3:00 . to 11:00 Position is to start as early as next week and is a long term, full time hours, and contract not a seasonal role.
