Description
Qualifications and Experience University degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required. Additional leadership, business, or project management education is an asset. Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressively senior experience in finance, accounting, and business operations. Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audit coordination, and internal control functions. Experience leading staff and managing multiple areas of responsibility in a complex environment. Experience supporting organizational planning, financial strategy, and cross-functional decision-making. Experience in a not-for-profit, public sector, healthcare, or broader public sector environment is an asset. Experience with business transformation, process redesign, and systems implementation is an asset. Experience overseeing property-related financial matters, procurement processes, and legal spend tracking is an asset. Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations. Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audit coordination, internal controls, and compliance requirements. Sound knowledge of modified accrual reporting, CRA requirements, and relevant regulatory and policy frameworks. Knowledge of applicable legislation and frameworks, including the CPA Handbook, the Income Tax Act, the Broader Public Sector accountability requirements, and privacy legislation. Understanding of procurement, contracting, and financial oversight practices Leadership: Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership across multiple functions. Proven ability to lead, develop, and support staff in a complex, evolving setting. Ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, and deliver high-quality, timely, and sustainable work. Ability to lead change and promote continuous improvement. Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex financial and operational matters. Ability to identify risks, assess implications, and develop practical solutions. Ability to analyze data, trends, and external changes to inform sound decision-making. Strong problem-solving and financial modelling skills. Communication and Influence: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences. Ability to influence decisions, provide sound advice, and build credibility with leaders and stakeholders. Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and negotiation skills. Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams and functions. Ability to build partnerships and bring leaders together to support planning, budgeting, and problem-solving. Ability to align financial recommendations and operational decisions with broader organizational priorities.
