Position Overview

As a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), you will assess emergency scenes and patients and may transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation. You may treat patients by administering minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation. You may also lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. You will assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles, such as non-emergent transport (NET), are properly stocked and equipped.Responsibilities

Assess emergency scenes and patients. Transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities. Operate ambulances or other modes of transportation. Administer minor medications, basic life support airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation. Lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes.Assist with ensuring ambulances or other EMS vehicles are properly stocked and equipped. Endure frequent lifting and carrying of up to 105 lbs, and perform other physically demanding tasks as required. Requirements

Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support CPR certification. Hold or be able to obtain a valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent. Maintain a five (5) year driver abstract current within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits prior to commencing work.Proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via the certificate provided by the Lifemark organization for those who do not already hold a clinical position within AHS EMS. Be qualified to perform full operational duties as of the start date. Preferred Qualifications

Preference is given to those with previous EMS experience in a metro, suburban, rural, or interfacility setting and in other areas of Health Care and Public Safety. Completion of additional post-secondary programs is considered an asset. Applicants should provide post-secondary education credentials for consideration during the selection process.Compensation

Minimum Salary: $32.69 Maximum Salary: $41.27 Vehicle Requirement
