Job Title: Mechanical Technologist (Plumbing Focus– Residential Projects) Location: London, Ontario
Job Type: Full-Time
About The Opportunity We are partnering with a growing consulting engineering firm seeking a Mechanical Technologist with a strong focus on plumbing design for residential projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working on multifamily residential, mixed-use, and low/high-rise developments while being part of a collaborative technical team. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing plumbing system designs, coordinating with consultants, and supporting projects from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare design drawings and construction documents for domestic water, sanitary, storm, and venting systems for residential developments.
Assist with mechanical layouts for apartment buildings, condominiums, townhomes, and mixed-use projects.
Perform plumbing calculations including fixture counts, pipe sizing, and code compliance reviews.
Coordinate designs with architects, structural, civil, and electrical teams.
Produce detailed drawings using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
Support permit and tender submissions.
Review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor inquiries during construction.
Conduct occasional site visits to review progress and resolve field issues.
Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, plumbing codes, and municipal requirements.
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
Minimum 4-8 years of experience in mechanical/plumbing design within a consulting engineering environment.
Strong experience with residential projects (low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise, mixed-use).
Proficiency in Revit MEP and/or AutoCAD.
Good understanding of Ontario Building Code / National Plumbing Code and relevant standards.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Experience
Exposure to HVAC coordination on residential buildings.
Experience with site servicing coordination and municipal submissions.
BIM coordination experience.
