Join the mission to support Deaf newcomers in Canada as a Language Instructor. Teach essential functional English skills through a bilingual curriculum that prioritizes American Sign Language.
In this unionized, full-time role, you'll create an inclusive learning environment for adult learners. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing lesson plans that align with diverse learning styles and needs. Experience with online teaching tools, including MS Teams and Zoom, is critical to facilitate remote learning when necessary, maintaining a high standard of educational quality.
Key Responsibilities:• Deliver language instruction for adult newcomers to Canada • Develop and modify lesson plans based on learner capabilities • Teach functional English literacy and life skills • Blend in-person and online teaching methods effectively • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a similar field • 2-3 years related teaching experience required • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) • Strong appreciation for Deaf culture • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
