Position Summary Cybersecurity and Software Integration Area Manager leads cybersecurity and software integration for GDLS vehicles and support products. The manager oversees risk management, policy implementation, software architecture, networking and the VSIL lab, guiding a team to protect digital assets and develop security strategies. About the Software Team GD Land Systems – Canada possesses world‑class software development capabilities, creating applications that enable Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) operation and maintenance. The software and cyber team, part of the Engineering Design and Technology department, consists of the following groups: Embedded Software Software Applications Software Integration & Cybersecurity The team collaborates on projects using Secure Agile methodology or other frameworks as required. A state‑of‑the‑art Systems Integration Lab supports collaboration with cross‑functional groups to research, develop, and test code. Key Job Elements Lead a team overseeing threat detection, incident response and vulnerability management for vehicles and equipment. Implement risk assessments to identify and mitigate cybersecurity threats. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and best practices. Collaborate with GDLS cyber customers and suppliers on cybersecurity initiatives. Drive continuous improvement through automation and process optimization in software development and testing. Oversee vehicle software architecture, integration activities and networking performance. Manage capital and R&D; projects, bids and proposals, and ensure team quality, schedule and budget. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for software and security‑related issues. Required Qualifications University degree or college diploma. 5–7 years of relevant experience. Strong communication and presentation skills; advanced proficiency in MS Office applications. Ability to manage multiple activities and interact effectively with functional groups. Ability to travel (5% within Canada, 5% US & International); must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid passport. Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Level clearance. Ability to meet the required qualifications for the Cybersecurity Workforce DoD 8140. Basic understanding of common cybersecurity models and approaches (Mitre ATT&CK;, STRIDE, OWASP, NIST 800‑53, CIA, DIM/DIU, etc.). Familiarity with LAV diagnostic software tools and hardware (VTS/VDU). Preferred Qualifications University degree or college diploma in a related field (Software, Electrical, Computer Science, etc.). P.Eng designation or other technical certifications in related fields. Previous leadership experience. Project management experience. Cybersecurity certification (CISSP, CISM, CEH, Security+). Familiarity with GDLS‑C engineering processes and various functional areas. Experience with Release and Change process. Experience working with customers in related industries. Expertise with software development pipeline tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Gitlab, etc.). Knowledge of CAN and Ethernet protocols and security layers (TLS, SSL, 802.1x). Knowledge of LAV electronics architectures and capabilities. Exposure to low level computing technologies like BIOS or UEFI and hardware imaging. Familiarity with software containerization, package management and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, NPM). Technical Cybersecurity Concepts Encryption types and algorithms. Certificates and signatures. Hardware Security Module / Trusted Platform Module (HSM/TPM). Working Conditions The work is performed in an office environment with standard noise and temperature levels. Employees may be required to stand, walk, sit and climb stairs to access upper offices.
