Description
Responsibilities You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations; assessing the academic work of students; and reporting grades. Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the employer, including training in health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards.
Qualifications Candidates must have a PhD, or be close to completion, and/or appropriate professional qualifications (graduate degree in journalism and/or communications, evidence of professional work experience), and a demonstrated record of performance in university‑level teaching.
Affirmation Policy Western, like many postsecondary institutions in Canada, is moving beyond sole reliance on Indigenous self‑identification in its hiring processes. Candidates who are invited for an interview or who are short‑listed, and who have made a declaration of Indigenous citizenship or membership for material advantage at Western, will be asked to affirm that declaration through a relational accountability process led by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives (OII) that is consistent with Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing.
Western Values Diversity The University invites applications from all qualified individuals. Western is committed to employment equity and diversity and welcomes applications from women, racialized groups/visible minorities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and people of any sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. Accommodations are available for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process. Contact Human Resources if accommodations are needed.
