Job Description Unifin International, a Wabtec Company in London, Ontario, was originally founded in the 1920u2019s. We are an electric equipment-cooling company, focused on the power generation and transmission markets. Our primary business is within North America, but we reach worldwide from legacy fossil fuel and nuclear plants to growing renewable energy power grids. **Who will you be working with?** As a member of the team at Unifin International, you will be working with 3 other machinists in our Machine Shop Department. You will report to the Production Supervisor and work within a group of 41 unionized employees. **How will you make a difference?** We are looking for a machinist who has the knowledge and confidence to improve our machine shop with todayu2019s tooling technology and efficiencies. Our machine shop consists of four (4) Haas Vertical CNCu2019s, one (1) Quickmill Vertical CNC, two (2) large radial arm drills and one (1) conventional lathe. Unifin manufactures a specially-designed product that requires special machining knowledge. The successful candidate will continue improving our machine shop process and help lead the department with 3 other machinists. They will also be willing to take initiative, correct process issues, be energetic with a positive attitude and challenge the status quo with continuous improvement techniques. **What do we want to know about you?** Able to work as an individual or with other departments to meet customer demands and expectations; Minimum 5 yearsu2019 experience working in a quick-paced machine shop environment running CNC and conventional machines; Possess strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining principles; Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting engineering specifications; Experience with overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment; Fusion 360 is a plus. **What will your typical day look like?** Always thinking of safety first; Program G-Code using Master Cam; Set up and manually program CNC vertical mills; Set up and operate conventional lathe; Set up and operate 6-foot radial arm drill; Develop, determine correct jigs and fixtures for various parts to be machined; Review production schedule and manage time according to workload and machine capacity; Review job drawings to ensure tooling and fixturing is available; Work with tooling suppliers to determine the best tooling technology needed for Unifinu2019s machining processes; Monitor the speeds and feeds of machines during the machining process; Read drawings, calculate dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to meet Unifinu2019s Quality standards; Lift parts with an overhead crane; Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines or tools as needed; Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles is a plus. **What about the physical demands of the job?** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes and hearing protection must be worn for the entirety of the shift. **Benefits of Working at Unifin International** Wages: First six months u2013 probation - $31.59 After probation u2013 full rate - $35.10 COLA - adjusted quarterly Day shift u2013 40-hour work week; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; potential overtime during the week and on Saturday; Annual vacation; company-paid holidays; Benefits, effective upon hire, include health care, dental, vision, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, disability coverage, Group RRSP/DPSP Safety boot and prescription-safety-glasses allowance; On-site parking, on bus route.
