Description
Position Tier 1 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Mass Spectrometry ‘Omics for Novel Therapeutics. Appointment Full‑time tenured joint appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and the Department of Chemistry. The candidate may obtain cross appointments in other relevant departments upon request. Responsibilities - Develop and lead an independent research program in mass spectrometry ‘omics focused on novel therapeutics. - Acquire, set up, and maintain shared instrumentation for metabolomics, proteomics, lipidomics, and other related areas. - Assume leadership of the shared Mass Spectrometry infrastructure in the BioCore. - Mentor junior faculty and graduate students in mass spectrometry ‘omics research. - Collaborate across departments to advance a cross‑departmental program in molecular biotherapeutics and diagnostics, contributing to large‑scale funding proposals. - Apply for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in the first available competition after appointment. Qualifications - PhD (or equivalent) with advanced training in biochemistry, chemistry, biochemical engineering, or a closely related field. - Demonstrated record of impactful publications (evaluated by DORA principles). - Recognized national or international leader (invited lectures, conference symposia). - Career‑stage appropriate external peer‑reviewed funding (e.g., CIHR, NIH). Experience incorporating EDID principles into research, teaching, and/or mentorship. - Fluent written and oral communication skills in English. - Enthusiastic about graduate and undergraduate education with a positive teaching and mentoring record.
