Plant Controller (Manufacturing) A well-established manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Plant Controller to provide financial leadership for its operations in Montreal, Canada. This role is critical to plant performance and will serve as a strategic business partner to both operations and senior finance leadership. The Opportunity The Plant Controller will be responsible for delivering full financial support to one or more manufacturing facilities, with accountability for financial reporting, controls, planning, and performance management. This position has direct impact on profitability, operational decision-making, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities - Own the preparation and execution of the annual budget and monthly forecasts, including earnings and cash flow. - Ensure accurate and timely statutory and management reporting in compliance with corporate policies and local requirements. - Maintain full responsibility for balance sheet integrity, including inventory, fixed assets, provisions, and working capital. - Lead and develop the plant accounting team, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial data. - Perform detailed cost and margin analysis to support cost discipline and profitability improvement across operations. - Act as a key financial business partner to plant and operations leadership, supporting data-driven decision-making. Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CA, CMA, MBA a plus - Minimum 7 years of progressive financial experience, including leadership responsibility within a manufacturing environment. - Strong understanding of plant operations with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights. - Advanced Excel and analytical skills; experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems required. - Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Proven strengths in problem-solving, decision-making, and continuous improvement. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.
