General Labouer/Rebar Operator A&H; Steel Vancouver is a fully integrated, full-service rebar provider with 50 years of experience in the supply, fabrication and installation of rebar in residential, commercial and industrial sectors. The company has been an Edmonton- based, family-owned rebar business since 1970, and we have recently expanded with the opening of the Maple Ride facility next to the Fraser River. We are currently looking for an experience shear and bender operator for our shop team. POSITION SUMMARY: The Shop General Labourer is an entry-level position for our Production Department. This role is responsible for learning and developing the necessary practices and skills to work within a fabrication shop to achieve safe and effective fabrication of rebar. This position will provide ongoing support to Shop Operators to meet production deadlines, maintain clean working spaces through good housekeeping practices and begin learning how to operate each rebar fabrication equipment through a structured training process. Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities: Shop Production Operations - Equipment Operators are supported, producing accurate rebar components in accordance with bar lists, meeting quality standards, and minimizing rework. - Production activities are safely and efficiently performed to support the achievement of daily production targets and maintain a high standard of workmanship. - Shop equipment is safe and efficiently operated after successful completion of proper training under the supervision of qualified personnel that is compliant with company procedures. - Consistent shop housekeeping practices maintain a clean and productive work environment. Documentation and Communication - Shop tags are proactively reviewed to contribute to the delivery of timely orders accurately. - Maintenance forms are accurately completed to support optimal service of preventative maintenance or major repairs for the Maintenance department. - Shop inventory is supported through assistance in evaluating company stock and supplies, minimizing disruptions and equipment downtime. - Accurate QHOCs are submitted to document quality discrepancies that support continuous improvement. - Completed pre-service inspection forms minimize downtime for equipment or machines to maintain productive operating time. Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) - Promotes and uphold A&H; Steel’s health and safety practices and personal adherence in supporting a culture of compliance among staff. - Communicate concerns, hazards, or operational issues promptly to the Shop Foreman, supporting timely resolution and safe, efficient workflow. - Immediate Shop incidents or near misses are reported immediately to assist in the reinforcement of supporting a culture of safety. - AHOCs are consistently submitted to support and encourage positive catches to reinforce a culture in safety. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - Experience working with Rebar is considered an asset. - Forklift experience is considered an asset. - Crane operator license is considered an asset - Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. - Position will require exposure to heat, cold, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration and industrial manufacturing noise. - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and to stand 8-10 hours. - Ability to follow safety policies and procedures is required.
