Software Developer (Thornhill)

Responsibilities - Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications across multiple platforms using languages such as Java, C#, Python, Ruby on Rails, C++, and VBA. - Develop and maintain web-based applications utilizing front-end technologies like JavaScript and frameworks aligned with modern UI/UX standards. - Build and optimize databases using SQL, MySQL, and other relational database management systems. - Integrate third-party APIs and develop custom APIs to enhance application functionality. - Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. - Utilize version control tools such as GitHub, SVN, Git to manage code repositories effectively. - Work within Agile development environments to ensure iterative progress and continuous improvement. - Deploy applications on cloud platforms including AWS and Azure, ensuring high availability and security. - Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging to maintain code quality standards. - Maintain documentation for codebase, APIs, and system architecture for future reference. Experience - Proven experience in software development with a strong portfolio of completed projects. - Proficiency in web development frameworks and languages such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Ruby on Rails, or similar technologies. - Hands-on experience with SQL databases like MySQL or MS SQL Server. - Familiarity with cloud services including AWS or Azure for application deployment and management. - Knowledge of RESTful API design principles and integration techniques. - Experience working within Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban. - Comfortable working in Linux environments; experience with Windows/.NET frameworks is a plus. - Familiarity with version control systems including Git or SVN. - Knowledge of application development best practices including security considerations and performance optimization.
