Corporate Controller Full-Time | In-Office Reports Directly to the President We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Corporate Controller to join our leadership team and oversee the financial operations of a group of four privately held companies in the General Contracting / Civil Construction, Forestry, and Aggregates & Sand industries. This is a key leadership role responsible for providing strong financial oversight, operational support, and day‑to‑day guidance to the accounting team. While this role will provide corporate‑level oversight across all four entities, the primary focus will be on one core operating company, with collaboration and support across the broader group. The position works closely with two existing Controllers—one transitioning to a part‑time maternity leave schedule and another who is part‑time in‑office—providing consistency, structure, and in‑person support to the team. Why Join Us - Opportunity to play a key leadership role within a diverse group of companies - Work directly with ownership and senior leadership - Be part of a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment - Meaningful impact across both day‑to‑day operations and long‑term financial strategy - Stable, long‑term opportunity with room to grow and shape the role Key Responsibilities - Financial Leadership & Oversight - Oversee the day‑to‑day accounting and financial reporting functions for a group of four companies - Take primary financial ownership of one main operating company while supporting the broader corporate group - Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial statements - Prepare internal management reporting packages - Conduct account reconciliations and produce working papers - Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial processes - Monitor cash flow, working capital, and overall financial performance across the group - Team Leadership & Collaboration - Provide in‑office leadership, guidance, and oversight to the accounting team - Collaborate closely with the two existing Controllers to ensure continuity, accuracy, and efficiency across all entities - Help bridge responsibilities and provide stability during a temporary team transition - Support and mentor accounting staff while establishing explicit accountability and workflow - Corporate & Operational Support - Oversee AP, AR, payroll, intercompany transactions, and general ledger functions - Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end close processes - Coordinate annual year‑end working papers and liaise with external accountants and advisors - Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for management decision‑making - Assist the President with financial strategy, reporting, and special projects - Identify opportunities for process improvement, reporting enhancements, and increased operational efficiency Qualifications - CPA designation required (or equivalent senior accounting experience) - Minimum 5–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience - Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior finance leader - Experience overseeing multiple entities or a group of companies is strongly preferred - Strong understanding of financial reporting, corporate accounting, intercompany transactions, internal controls, month‑end and year‑end processes - Skilled at managing deadlines and competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment - Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills - Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of both strategic oversight and hands‑on execution - Proficiency with Sage 100 Contractor, Quickbooks Desktop, and Microsoft Excel - Must have a vehicle for commuting (transit not accessible) - Must be comfortable working in a dog‑friendly environment What We’re Looking For - A strong financial leader who can provide confidence and direction to a growing organization - Comfortable being the primary in‑office accounting lead - Able to work collaboratively while also taking ownership and initiative - Professional, practical, and solutions‑oriented - Someone who can step into a key leadership role and help support both the business and the accounting team through a transitional period Compensation and Benefits Pay: $110,000.00–$150,000.00 per year - Company events - Dental care - Extended health care - On‑site parking - Paid time off - RRSP match - Vision care Location and Requirements - Work Location: In person - Ability to commute/relocate: Maple Ridge, BC – reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) - Must have a vehicle for commuting – transit not accessible - Must be comfortable working in a dog‑friendly environment - Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) - Experience: construction, forestry, or aggregates industry – 1 year (required) - Licence/Certification: Chartered Professional Accountant designation (preferred) Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2po98q
