Senior HR Consultant (Greater Toronto Area)
Description
Senior HR Consultant True North HR Consulting Greater Toronto Area - $70–$80/hour - 30–40 hrs/week About the role You've spent the last decade as an HRBP or in-house HR leader, and you're ready for something different. Not another seat at one company's leadership table — but a seat at many. As a Senior HR Consultant at True North, you'll advise a rotating portfolio of clients across industries on the work that matters most: building HR strategy from the ground up, navigating employee relations issues that need real judgment, leading organizational changes that need a steady hand, answering compliance questions that need a clear answer. You'll partner directly with founders, CEOs, and senior leaders — often as the most experienced HR voice in the room. You won't be doing it alone. You'll be backed by a team of specialist consultants covering recruitment, HRIS implementations, total rewards design and pay equity — so you can stay focused on the strategic and generalist work where you add the most value and pull in expertise when your clients need it. This isn't a remote desk job. You'll spend most of your week on-site with clients across the GTA, with remote flexibility built in around client needs. A reliable vehicle and clean driving record are required. What you'll actually be doing The work shifts week to week, but the throughline is the same: showing up as the senior HR partner your clients trust to think clearly and act decisively. In a given month, you might: - Build a client's HR strategy from scratch — assess where they are, define where they need to go, and own the roadmap to get there - Lead a workplace investigation and deliver findings to a CEO - Coach an executive through a difficult termination - Audit a client's HR practices for compliance gaps and build the remediation plan - Advise a client on embedding IDEA principles into their hiring, policies, and culture - Facilitate a change management process through a reorg or acquisition - Build out performance management, onboarding, or succession planning programs - Develop policies and employee handbooks tailored to a client's stage and culture - Bring in our specialist consultants when a client needs recruitment support, an HRIS implementation, a total rewards or pay equity project — and stay close to the work as the client's primary HR partner You'll own these engagements end to end — strategy, execution, and the follow-through in between. Who we're looking for A true HR generalist with 10+ years of progressive experience as an HRBP, in-house HR leader, or consultant — and someone who's operated at the strategy level, not just executed against someone else's plan. Beyond the résumé, you: - Bring executive presence — leaders take you seriously the moment you walk in - Are genuinely energized by variety, not just tolerant of it - Can switch contexts cleanly between three clients in a single day - Follow through without being chased - Catch the details others miss - Operate with discretion and integrity — you've handled sensitive things and you know how to hold them Required: Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field. Deep knowledge of Canadian (Ontario) employment law and HR best practices. Demonstrated experience building and implementing HR strategy. Practical experience advising on or implementing IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) initiatives. Comfort with Microsoft 365 and Zoom. Familiarity with common HRIS platforms (BambooHR, Humi, or similar). Reliable vehicle and clean driving record. Bonus: CHRL or CHRE designation. Prior consulting experience. What we offer - $70–$80/hour, with flexible scheduling - Full health benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, LTD, AD&D;, Travel, EAP) - A collaborative team of senior HR consultants and specialists — you won't be on an island - Real exposure to leadership across industries and company stages - Mentorship and professional development support A few things worth knowing Work volume varies with client demand — this suits someone who values flexibility over a fixed 40-hour week. We don't use AI to screen or assess applicants; every application is reviewed by a person. We're an equal opportunity employer and welcome accommodation requests at any stage of the process. This posting is for a recent addition to the team. If this sounds like the next chapter for you, we'd love to hear from you. Applicants selected for interviews will be notified within legislated timelines. Pay: $70.00-$80.00 per hour Benefits: - Dental care - Disability insurance - Extended health care - Flexible schedule - Life insurance - Paid time off - Vision care - Work from home Work Location: On the road Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2o4d7i
