Housekeeper/laundry Markham

About Us: Participation House, Markham is a non-profit organization and is a leader in enhancing the quality of life of individuals with disabilities through a continuum of services designed to reflect individualized approaches, community involvement and a respect for human dignity. Responsible for housekeeping, laundry and maintenance-related duties in a high quality and effective level of operation in accordance with the Fire Code, Health and Safety Regulations and approved PHM policies and procedures. The incumbent must be available to work weekdays, holidays, and every other weekend. Responsibilities Clean, wash and dust all rooms, offices, light fixtures, and general areas in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Clean and sanitize all washrooms and the Life Skills kitchen area and appliances on the premises. Maintain indoor plants. Other housekeeping and maintenance duties as required on weekend shifts, including cleaning windows, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and waste disposal. Collect and sort all soiled linen in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Wash, dry, fold and distribute all laundry including but not limited to personal clothing, room linens and tablecloths, as appropriate. Report equipment repairs needed and contact appropriate services in the absence of the Manager. Ensure dryer vents are cleaned daily and record on daily sheets as required. Clean up after spills and/or leaks and empty pails as needed in accordance procedures and universal precaution policies. Clean, sanitize and always maintain a high level of hygiene with the laundry area, and all cleaning related equipment and supplies. Other laundry duties as requested.
