After-School CHESS Instructor (Markham)

RoboThink Toronto is currently hiring a Chess Instructor who is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and passionate about teaching young learners. This role involves leading fun and educational chess sessions for students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. We’re looking for someone who has a solid background in chess—whether through teaching or competitive play—and enjoys working with kids in a lively and supportive learning environment. Primary Responsibilities - Deliver interactive and engaging chess classes for students in Grades K–8 - Teach core chess concepts such as rules, tactics, openings, endgames, and sportsmanship - Adjust lesson content based on students’ age and skill levels - Promote a positive, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere - Handle classroom setup and cleanup, including organizing chess materials - Support students’ development of critical thinking and problem-solving through guided play Preferred Qualifications - Experience teaching or coaching chess to kids (in schools, camps, or informally) - Solid understanding of chess principles, strategies, and basic competition formats - Background working with children in a group setting - Ability to simplify complex topics for younger learners - Positive, energetic, and patient demeanor - Access to reliable transportation for commuting to various teaching locations Be a part of our mission to inspire creativity and sharpen minds—help students discover the joy of chess in a energetic after-school setting!
