We are currently seeking an energetic, proactive, and hands-on Production / Andon Leader for our Markham location. This integrated role combines responsibilities in Manufacturing Methods and Quality, with a strong focus on real-time production support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Production /Andon Leader acts as a key liaison between Production and Sales to proactively prevent and resolve issues that could delay manufacturing and impact on customer delivery. The production team will report directly to the Andon Leader. Key Responsibilities Real-Time Production Support - Respond promptly to Andon alerts and shop floor issues to resolve quality and process-related concerns. - Provide immediate support to minimize downtime and maintain production flow. Current Product Development (NPD) & Sales Support - Support recent product development activities. - Assist the Sales team with cost estimations and technical input. Production Management - Investigate, document, and resolve issues that may cause production delays or stoppages. - Coordinate corrective actions and ensure timely follow-up. Process Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) - Promote Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. - Drive effective use of Andon systems to improve operational efficiency and responsiveness. Action Planning & Visual Management - Develop action plans and implement containment measures to prevent recurring issues. - Maintain visual management boards and production tracking tools. Documentation & Change Management - Create and revise manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, workbooks, and
engineering change requests (ECRs). - Ensure documentation remains accurate and up to date. Quality Assurance - Apply strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (AS9100, ISO, SMS) within a manufacturing environment. - Manage non-conformities, perform line checks, support defect investigations, and complete customer audit documentation. Requirements & Qualifications Education - College diploma or university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience - Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing methods, production, or quality roles, preferably within the aerospace industry. Technical Skills - Strong understanding of technical drawings and GD&T.; - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. - Good 3D visualization skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. - Experience with AutoCAD and CATIA V5 is considered an asset.
