Senior Process Engineer - Mining Water and Wastewater Treatment Date: Apr 13, 2026 Location: Markham, ON, CA Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies Opportunity Type: Staff Contract Hire Only for this Project: No Opportunity Lead and design treatment for raw water supply, mine contact water, process wastewater, and mine effluent systems across active and legacy mining operations. Provide technical leadership throughout the mining lifecycle, from feasibility and permitting to construction, operations support, and closure. Develop and present technical evaluations, supervise junior engineers, perform conventional process design analysis, build and maintain client relationships, and contribute to proposal writing. Key Responsibilities Lead process engineering design of water and wastewater treatment and delivery systems. Evaluate, select and integrate treatment technologies including biological treatment systems, membrane systems, and solids handling. Prepare process engineering deliverables: PFDs, Water Balances, MSDs, P&IDs;, equipment data sheets and specifications. Conduct complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection; conduct detailed design and procurement, including construction and commissioning support. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Plan and conduct independent evaluation and adaptation of engineering techniques and procedures. Review junior engineering work and provide mentorship. Collaborate with hydrology, hydrogeology, and civil teams on integrated water resource solutions across mine life cycles. Serve as a technical specialist, providing consultation and guidance within the practice area. Coordinate with the industrial water team for thought leadership and presentations. Assist with key client interests, support feasibility studies, closure strategies, and business development activities. Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to the assigned engineering discipline. Effective oral and written communication skills, drive for results, quality focus, priority setting, planning, delegation, conflict management, and team building. Deep understanding of consulting, project execution, client services, and business development. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements. Certifications Skilled Engineer registration or licensure, or willingness and ability to pursue registration. Work Environment and Physical Demands Typical office and construction environments, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards such as electric currents, scaffolding, high places, exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, and gases. Requires sitting, walking, talking, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods, and lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments. Salary $163,100.00 CAD to $271,836.00 CAD annually.
