Registered Practical Nurse - Temp. Full Time [RWH 4TH RPN …, Markham

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides professional nursing care to residents in accordance with required medical care and professional nursing practice, and provides direction to Personal Support Workers as defined by the College of Nurses Standard of Practice on Working with Unregistered Health Care Workers.

What You Will Do

In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, implement AgeCare policies and procedures on the unit and provide input into the revision of procedures.

Liaise with physicians and other members of the health care team, and in the absence of the Registered Nurse, immediately notify the physician of any significant changes in resident status.

Work with other members of the health care team to ensure residents’ care needs are met.

Provide direction to Personal Support Workers on the care team.

Participate in shift report with members of the health care team, ensuring that all team members are informed of changes in resident status.

What You Bring

Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long‑term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.

Knowledge of the Fixing Long‑Term Care Act and Regulations, the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Controlled Substances Act (Canada), Health Promotion and Protection Act.

Knowledge of the Personal Health Protection Act, Coroners Act, College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice and other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal statutes that influence the operation of the Nursing Home and the nursing department.

A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and a member in good standing.
