Responsibilities Drive consistent, high‑quality project delivery by ensuring alignment with Stantec’s Project Management Framework and leading continuous improvements in project execution, controls, and monitoring across the business center. Oversee project managers, support recruitment and development, coordinate training, assign project resources, and foster a collaborative and high‑performing project delivery culture. Drive consistent project management practices and procedures in alignment with Stantec Project Management Framework and any specific Energy and Resources business line practices. Recommend improvements to work processes, policies, and procedures to enhance project execution, control, and monitoring at the project level and business line level. Serve as a project manager for projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk in compliance with Stantec Project Management Framework and Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) controls, including interfacing and communicating with clients. Support PMs with implementing project‑focused Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) practices. Work in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec team members, clients, and the public by following company health, safety, and security guidelines and policies. Oversee, supervise, and lead Project Managers to ensure timely, effective, and efficient performance of project management responsibilities within an assigned area. Collaborate with the Project Management & Commercial Lead (PMCL) to recruit, retain, mentor, coach, and lead all levels of project management team members, including developing succession plans for key roles and identifying and addressing capability gaps. Ensure continuous training sessions for project managers and project controls staff, including Oracle dashboard, Integrated Project Solutions (IPS), Integrated Project Management (IPM), preparing estimates to complete, change management and other critical PM activities and tools. Assign projects in conjunction with the PMCL team for pursuit efforts to appropriately qualified project managers. Provide formal feedback on individual performance of project managers and project coordinators. Champion a cooperative project delivery approach within the BC. Support Campaign and Proposal teams by reviewing proposal materials to ensure alignment with Stantec’s Project Management Framework and confirm that client requirements, scope, risks, and commercial and technical needs are achievable. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in managing a wide range of major and complex projects, including 5+ years in a leadership or supervisory role. - Proven success delivering large‑scale, multidisciplinary, and technically complex projects ($5M+ in fees or comparable complexity). - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple teams and projects across varying disciplines and geographies. - Strong financial acumen, contract management skills, and understanding of business operations. - Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools. Work Environment & Benefits The position will primarily work in an office setting. Stantec is proud to offer a hybrid work environment, and the opportunity to work from your home office may be considered; however, due to the leadership component of this role, a large in‑office presence will be required. Periodic travel will be required to other Stantec office locations, the field, and/or client meetings. Stantec offers bonus eligibility for certain roles.
