Next Step's Mission: Empowering people with disabilities by encouraging independence, a meaningful community presence and an enriched quality of life. Position Description: There is 1 full-time ( multiple shifts ) Community Disability Services Worker opportunities required for the Adult Department in Brooks, to work one on one in the community or a staffed residence setting with Individual(s) to support them with independent living and as well as support them in the community. Experience working with individuals with behaviours, developmental disabilities and adhering to program plans an asset. As a Community Disability Services Worker, you will be working independently and/or in collaboration with other staff to assist an Individual and to empower them by encouraging independence, a meaningful community presence, and an enriched quality of life. This includes implementation of the Individual Support Plan; working all shifts as required; may include assisting with personal care. Other duties include: - Supporting life and community skills - Medication administration - Community access with Individuals - Participating in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the Individual - Encouraging individual socialization - Maintaining appropriate documentation and records - Communicating professionally with Individuals, families, guardians, peers, supervisors, and community representatives. - Responsible to maintain a clear Criminal Record, current Standard First Aid CPR Level C, and keep all mandatory training up to date. Requirements: - Valid class 5 driver's license and own vehicle; - Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check; - Drivers Abstract - Smartphone data plan; - Standard First Aid- Level C CPR/AED; - previous experience and/or education with individuals with disabilities, is an asset. Education: - Minimum High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience; - Foundations in Community Disability Studies Certificate will be considered an asset.
