Company Overview Jaza is working to power Sub‑Saharan Africa. We build solar‑powered shops which charge batteries customers use to power their homes. Position Overview In this role, you will oversee the full spectrum of accounting and financial operations for the Canadian entity, encompassing the complete accounting cycle—from accounts receivable and payable through month‑end close to financial statement preparation. You will take ownership of Canadian payroll and benefits administration, corporate tax compliance, GST/HST filings, and all CRA regulatory obligations. As the group‑wide coordination lead for intercompany transactions, you will serve as a key liaison across the broader organization, while also managing treasury and cash operations including liquidity planning, banking relationships, and wire transfers. You will further contribute to strategic financial oversight through Canada‑specific budget tracking and monthly management reporting.
Key Responsibilities Canadian Entity Accounting
Own the full accounting cycle for Jaza Energy Inc. (Canada): accounts receivable, accounts payable, month‑end close, financial statements, and regulatory filings
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy and completeness of all journal entries and reconciliations
Support preparation of the monthly management reporting pack for the Canadian entity
Maintain Canada entity budget tracking and perform variance analysis
Payroll&Benefits
Process Canadian and parent company employee payroll accurately and on time
Maintain payroll records and support year‑end reporting requirements
Tax&Regulatory Compliance
Manage Canadian corporate tax obligations and coordinate with external tax advisors as required
Prepare and file GST/HST returns in line with CRA requirements
Monitor the Canadian regulatory compliance calendar and ensure all deadlines are met
Treasury&Cash Management
Support the development and execution of monthly cash flow forecasts across all entities
Manage Canadian banking relationships and oversee day‑to‑day banking operations
Execute and approve international wire transfers in line with internal controls and approval workflows
Monitor country‑level cash positions and coordinate cash injections as needed
Intercompany Transactions
Act as the group‑wide coordination lead for intercompany transactions and allocations
Ensure intercompany balances are reconciled and agreed across entities on a monthly basis
Maintain clear documentation of intercompany agreements and charging arrangements
Systems&Process
Be the primary owner of the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Canada entity setup and configuration
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and support standardisation across the group
Maintain organised and audit‑ready financial records at all times
Qualifications Experience&Competencies
5–7 years in accounting/finance operations; multi‑entity experience preferred
CPA (Canada) preferred; equivalent accounting qualification considered
QuickBooks Online (QBO) proficiency is an advantage
Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax, GST/HST, CRA requirements
Experience in cash flow forecasting, banking operations, international wire transfers
Must be authorised to work in Canada
