Security Guard- Full Time, Southeastern Alberta (Drumheller)

SECURITY GUARD– FULL TIME POSITION Location: Strathmore area. Overnight shifts Thursday to Saturday and every other Sunday, 2300 to 0700. Pay: $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, ensuring security and safety.

Makes periodic patrols to check for irregularities and inspect protective devices and fire control equipment.

Preserves order and enforces regulations and directives for personnel, visitors, and premises.

Controls access via admittance process.

Patrols sites on foot or in vehicles; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.

Provides excellent customer service while minimizing risk to client property and assets.

Monitors intrusion detection systems using alarms and video monitoring software.

Uses computer systems and software to monitor sites and complete basic training.

Maintains focus and awareness in a stressful environment, identifying and responding to life‑threatening situations.

Protects evidence or incident scenes during accidents, emergencies, or investigations.

Conducts inbound/outbound package inspections.

Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other emergencies following established procedures and training.

Qualifications

Must have a valid provincial Security Guard License.

Working knowledge of security operations and procedures.

Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written.

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Able to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Able to conduct lengthy interior and exterior patrols, climb stairs, and walk up inclines.

Sensitive to the nature of shelter and residents’ experiences.

Able to engage with residents respectfully and non‑judgmentally.

Ability to handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.

Capable of using CCTV system.

First Aid/CPR considered an asset.
