Horticultural Therapist– Independent Contractor The Village of Ridgeview Court has an exciting opportunity for a Horticultural Therapist – Independent Contractor to join their team.
Status:
Contractor, 30 Hours Biweekly
Location:
545 Dymott Ave, Milton, ON, L9T 7V6
Expected Start Date:
May 1, 2026
Required Qualifications
Enrollment in or completion of a Degree in Horticultural Therapy or equivalent
Completion of the required 480 hours of internship
Eligibility to be a member of the Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association
Enthusiasm for the Village’s objectives, philosophy, and family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village
Demonstrated caring and respectful attitude toward residents, families, and team members
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with seniors
Knowledge of therapy practices, methods, techniques, and opportunities to improve residents’ well‑being and holistic health
Understanding of the relevant sections of the Long‑Term Care Homes Act, 2007
Responsibilities Support and embrace our resident‑centered social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of recreational programming to our residents. Act as a key member of the Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.
Foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families, and the Village team to deliver holistic care that focuses on flexible living and quality of life.
Plan gardening‑based activities, either on a per‑session basis or incorporated into a larger curriculum. Provide hands‑on experiences for residents, including, but not limited to, planting seeds and caring for plants both indoors and outdoors.
Collaborate with the Recreation Team to support residents in learning, growing, finding life purpose and meaning. Plan and implement programs that contribute to a resident’s holistic health care goals, as outlined in Care Plans (including RAI MDS‑Raps, Coding, and Activities Initial Assessment), encouraging physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and cognitive growth.
