We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Night-Shift Maintenance Mechanic to become part of our growing team at our location in Milton, Ontario. Job Overview The "Night Shift" Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, dismantling machinery and equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. This will be accomplished through the safe and effective use of hand tools, and power tools. This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional with solid troubleshooting abilities and experience working in a food manufacturing or processing environment. This position requires that the Mechanic troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with associated equipment. The Mechanic is also responsible for repairing malfunctioning equipment, such as motors, pumps, valves, controls, packaging machinery, conveyors, and other machines. As a Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving plant equipment to support safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations. Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic Location: Milton, ON Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Shift: Night Shift (Sunday night to Friday morning, with periodic Saturdays and overtime as required) Pay Range: $30.00 to $36.00 per hour $2.00 shift premium (Range will be based on experience, certifications, and qualifications) Key Responsibilities - Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration, and production equipment issues. - Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and equipment. - Repair and maintain motors, conveyors, pumps, valves, controls, refrigeration systems, packaging machinery, and related equipment. - Maintain and monitor refrigeration systems in compliance with TSSA standards. - Support equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. - Complete work orders and maintenance requests accurately and in a timely manner. - Assist in minimizing downtime through proactive preventative maintenance and communication with production teams. - Maintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment records. - Work collaboratively with contractors, inspectors, and internal departments to ensure regulatory compliance. - Ensure compliance with all workplace safety procedures, GMPs, HACCP/SQF requirements, SOPs, and company quality standards. - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Qualifications & Experience Required: - Ability to fluently read, speak and write English. - Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. - Previous experience in a food processing or packaging setting. - Robust mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills. - Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems. - Strong problem-solving abilities with a sense of urgency. - Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively. - Comfortable working in a refrigerated food manufacturing environment, including exposure to raw poultry. - Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team. - Reliable, punctual, and flexible with shift schedules and overtime requirements. Preferred Assets: - Millwright license or industrial maintenance certification. - Electrical troubleshooting knowledge. - Experience in CFIA and OMAFA regulated facilities. - Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, packaging, and processing systems. - HACCP/SQF and GMP experience. - Refrigeration Operator B Certification (TSSA). Working Conditions - Plant food-based manufacturing environment. - Refrigerated work areas. - Exposure to noise, odours, and industrial equipment. - Physically demanding work requiring lifting. - Indoor and occasional outdoor work. - After-hours on-call availability may be required. - Periodic Saturday preventative maintenance work.
